GridEdge Intelligence Mini-Forum
Is 2030.5 THE DER Protocol
On May 25th, 2021, GridEdge Intelligence, QualityLogic, GridIntellect, and SwitchDin teamed up to create an insightful mini forum where Stuart McCafferty (GridIntellect), David Forfia (Utilicast, Gridwise Architecture Council), and Eamonn McCormick (Utilicast) discussed their “EnergyIoT Conceptual Model” and a methodology that maps the IEEE 2030.5 technology stack to develop DER interoperability solution architectures to support grid services and markets. The conversation was based on the recent article: Creating DER Integration Solution Architectures Using IEEE 2030.5 and the EnergyIoT Common Reference Model.
Dr. Andrew Mears, CEO of SwitchDin, also shared information on real-life Australian projects using the model to support multiple use cases. Australia is one of the first countries in the world approaching critical levels of DER and there are some great lessons emerging.
