Upgrade to DataProbe T30 Analyzer
QUALITYLOGIC RELEASES MAJOR DATAPROBE UPGRADE.
QualityLogic (www.qualitylogic.com), a provider of leading-edge QA and QC test tools and services for the imaging and telecom industries, has released a major upgrade for its DataProbe Fax V.34 Protocol Analyzer, now called DataProbe T30. A second-generation test tool, DataProbe T30 is a robust, multi-node, communication-channel test tool for fax transmission analysis. Introduced in 2005, DataProbe was the first V.34 solution to provide deep T.30 analysis. It passively monitors, captures and analyzes traffic at all modulations up to V.34, and quickly identifies and isolates protocol violations, fax message degradation and timing errors. Applications include FoIP testing, Fax terminal/MFP testing, T.30 development, QA testing, field service/diagnostics and end-to-end telephony service testing.
The DataProbe T30 upgrade includes several important new capabilities:
- ECM physical pages are now reported with frame recovery statistics to support much faster and easier analysis of page transmission success.
- Call data can now be imported and exported directly from and to .wav files. Users can send captured sound files to other analysis systems from DataProbe or use it to analyze data captured by those systems.
- A new system detects the on-hook/off-hook state of the phone line. DataTrap2 units (DataProbe’s hardware component) now have a circuit that is specifically dedicated to monitoring the on-hook/off-hook state of the connecting phone line for consistent individual call detection and recording.
- DataTrap2 incorporates a new opto-isolated detection circuit that improves its ability to capture fax call messages and page content for calls over the PSTN. The new improved DataTrap2 allows DataProbe T30 to perform better detection of all the exchanged frames in V.34 and ECM Partial Pages.
“DataProbe T30 upgrade demonstrates our commitment to continue to improve our products,” said Gary James, QualityLogic Director of Business Development. “Its improved monitoring and protocol analysis capabilities will help our customers more quickly isolate facsimile problems, saving a lot of time for R & D, QA and field-service people.”

ABOUT DATAPROBE
DataProbe T30 is a software application that uses self-contained hardware devices and runs on any Windows 2000 or XP workstation. It creates an end-to-end test system that monitors and reports on calls between originating and answering devices in fax sessions. Its distributed hardware architecture simplifies testing and quickly identifies problems caused by the communications network infrastructure. DataProbe T30 does this through DataTrap2, a hardware device that sits between a fax device or telephony gateway unit and an analog connection to the public telephone network or analog line simulator. DataProbe T30 can control one or more DataTrap2’s over TCP/IP and is connected to the tested device or network via standard RJ-11 telephony connection.
DataProbe T30 has an elegant, easy-to-use interface that displays all captured fax protocol data and message content. From a high-level view, a user can quickly drill down to the bit level. Rich analytical software identifies protocol errors. The dynamic ITU-T T.30 “Help” window explains signals, data formats and byte descriptions, and allows the user to quickly understand a call error in relationship to fax standards.
